My Five Rules For Losing That Post-Pregnancy Chub

During pregnancy, your body changes to allow your little one to grow and develop. And while pregnancy is a beautiful experience, it’s easy to get down about your post-pregnancy figure.

Perhaps you dislike your new mommy body? Maybe you don’t seem to curve in the right places anymore? Perhaps you just want to be able to fit back into your favorite pair of non-maternity jeans? Whatever is worrying you about your post-pregnancy figure, try not to stress about it.

Your body might not be in the best shape right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get your old body back. Admittedly, it will take time and work, but getting your body back into shape doesn’t have to be as hard as you think.

While there is no magical way to get rid of baby chub, with healthy eating and regular exercise, you will have your body back in shape in no time.

Once you get into it, healthy eating is easy, but I know how hard it can be to start. That’s why I have put together this guide to my five rules for successful weight loss:

1. Keep the fridge stocked with healthy foods

You will find it much easier to stick to eating healthily if the fridge is always stocked with healthy snacks. Ideally, you want to have lots of easy to prepare snacks on hand, as you are probably far too busy to deal with anything fiddly.

Carrot batons, cucumber chunks, low-fat hummus, nuts and seeds, and fresh fruit salads are all ideal. You could also keep packs of pre-cooked beef and chicken to snack on throughout the day or tinned fish.

2. Order your groceries

Sometimes the thought of having to get the little one, along with all of their bits and bobs ready is too much to bare. Instead of going to the supermarket and doing the shopping, you spend the week living off takeaways. However, with the option of grocery delivery, that doesn’t have to be the case.

As a new mommy, you might struggle to get out of the house and do the shopping, so why not order you groceries for delivery? You can choose lots of healthy food and snacks and have them delivered directly to your door, without even having to leave the house.

3. Buddy up

If you struggle to go it alone, why not buddy up with another new mom and blast your baby bodies together? If you have a friend also in the same boat as you, you will find it much easier to stay on track with your exercise and healthy eating.

Sometimes having someone to exercise or compare diet tips with is enough to motivate you to stick to being healthy. Plus, a little bit of healthy competition is a fantastic motivator.

4. Speak to a professional

If you are unsure of what healthy eating plan or diet to follow, it might be a good idea to seek professional advice. When you are trying to get back into shape, sometimes having an expert opinion to guide you can make all the difference.

If you need help with your dieting, arrange to attend diet counseling or to speak to a dietician. Getting advice from a professional can be both helpful and motivating, so if you are struggling, it is definitely worth it.

5. Choose exercise that you enjoy

Exercise shouldn’t be something you dread, it should be something you look forward to. That’s why it is so important that you pick a form of exercise you enjoy.

From running and cycling to synchronized swimming and yoga, there are many types of exercise to choose from. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that exercise like yoga isn’t beneficial - it really is.

Losing the post-pregnancy baby chub takes time, effort, and a healthy lifestyle. But isn’t as hard to do as it seems, preserve and stick to living a healthy lifestyle, and soon enough your body will be back in shape.
