7 Inexpensive Ways to Update Your Style this Fall

With each new season comes new fashion trends and the inevitable craving to overhaul your entire wardrobe. However – not all of us can afford to completely throw out last autumn’s jumpers and boots to be replaced with shiny new ones.

We’re here to share a few tips and tricks on how to update your style using key pieces you already own and switching up some things you can change without breaking the bank. Read on to find out how!

1. Buy Staple Pieces
Buying a few staple pieces for fall weather will get you a long way. By mixing and matching these pieces, you can create a large variety of outfits. Some of the most popular fall staple items that never go out of fashion are leather jackets, ankle booties, high waisted skinny jeans, plain turtlenecks, tights, and moto jackets.

These are all articles of clothing you can find almost anywhere, just find the one that has your personal style in the detailing. Buying multiple staple garments allows you to create new and different outfits without having to buy an entirely new wardrobe.

2.Layer Your Clothing
A classic fall fashion trend is layering. A stylish go-to for a fall night out could be black booties, high-waisted skinny jeans, a turtleneck long sleeve, and a faux fur coat. Mix and match different jackets, tops, and styles of pants and you’ve scored plenty of outfit combinations.

For jackets alone, you could have one denim and one leather, and then a blazer and a trench coat. For pants, just one nice skirt to pair with tights, a pair of black and medium wash high-waisted skinny jeans, and a pair of trousers will be more than enough! The most important thing is that is that your pieces are in autumnal colors!

3. Accessorize
Accessorizing is a simple but effective way to take any outfit to the next level. You can find budget-friendly fall-themed accessories like bags, beanies, scarves, and hats in many department stores and online retailers. Even adding jewelry such like dainty necklaces and multiple rings are a great way to continue the fall layering trend.

4. Update Your Phone Case
This may not seem like a true style update but when you think about it, your phone case is a great way to show off your style and create fall vibes for yourself.

We’re guessing your phone is always in your hand; and you probably see it more than you see anything else throughout the day. Every time you use your phone, everyone around you sees your case. If you don’t know what design to get that matches your personality and is in fashion, here are the current hottest trends for your iPhone.

5. Paint Your Nails
Another small but effective style tip is to paint your fingernails. Not only are painted and well taken care of fingernails good for your self-esteem, but nothing brings autumn vibes to your mind than seeing warm jewel tones every time you see your hands. Not to mention having your fingernails match the color of your outfits takes the style to the next level and automatically makes you look like you put more effort in than you really did! Painting your nails a beige or burgundy color should match a majority of your fall outfits and only need to be fixed once or twice a week!

6. Thrift Shop
The best budget-friendly style hack is shopping at thrift stores and consignment shops. Look up what’s around you, any Goodwill or Plato’s Closet will work. Also, take the time to research local thrift stores, typically the most unique items can be found in brick and mortar shops.

The selection may not always be in season as thrift stores and consignment shops aren’t able to control what people bring in, but a lot of it is in style, and the rest can be customized! If you’re DIY savvy, you can alter the item to make it more your style and fit.

7. Resale Apps
Now that you know what to look for to complete your autumn-winter wardrobe, it’s time to figure out where to get all these items within the means of your budget.

One lesser-known option is resale apps where people sell their own clothes for cheaper than retail prices. Resale apps require that the clothes be in good condition just like thrift stores, so you don’t have to be concerned about getting gypped on quality. A few websites/apps to consider would DePop and Poshmark.
