Ways to Make Time for Yourself in Motherhood

When it pertains to motherhood, it seems like every waking moment is dedicated to the little ones. It's easy to forget about yourself in the process. Instead of falling prey to this type of disaster, consider the following ways you can make time for yourself within motherhood.

1. Don't overcrowd your schedule.
If you know that you have a million things on your to-do list, this can lead to a feeling of overwhelm. Instead, consolidate. If you have to pick up new shoes for your toddler and get groceries, make it easier on yourself. Head to the couch with your smartphone, tablet or laptop. Pull out your credit card. Order the red patent toddler shoes online. Head over to your favorite grocery to get your groceries delivered to your front door. Then, find a great show to enjoy while the kids play with their toys. You don't have to crowd your schedule with "productive tasks" at every waking moment. It's okay to relax. You'll be a better person and a better mom because of it.

2. Set realistic expectations.
There are so many people who overestimate what they can do in a day. They also underestimate how much they can get done in a year. The best thing to do is pace yourself. Just because you'd like to try to cram everything into your schedule doesn't mean you should. Give yourself the margin to be able to make decisions, spend time with your children and enjoy life. If you set unrealistic deadlines, you'll grow to detest the thing you were once passionate about. Instead, develop rhythms. Take note of what feels manageable to you. Then, once you're clear in that area, stick with it.

3. Utilize assistance.
If you're passionate about blogging and want to get started, you can do it. However, it might be a great idea to develop a team to help you. If you don't have time to sit down to write the blog posts, know that all isn't lost. On your way to work, record yourself talking. You can talk about everything you would've wanted in the blog post. Then, find someone who is willing to do transcription and editing. Before you know it, all you'll need to do is add the words to your post, hit publish and share with your online audience.
