3 DIY Weekend Home Improvements
There’s
no need to spend months and a small fortune improving your home. These simple
DIY home improvement projects are small enough to finish in a weekend, but have
plenty of upside and reward.
Add Baseboards
Adding baseboards
to your home is a surprisingly easy weekend task that has huge dividends. Once
you get into a rhythm, you can move room to room with ease and efficiency.
The
most important thing is to spend time taking accurate measurements. Once you
have all of the dimensions, use a miter saw to make your cuts. You’ll want to use a powerful and accurate pin
nailer to
affix the boards to your drywall.
After
you’re done installing the baseboards, you’ll want to add a layer of paint.
White is the typical color to use, and works well to help an accent wall pop
even more.
Paint a Room
A fresh
coat of paint can do wonders for any room of your house, and painting is
relatively easy to do. Unlike so many other house projects, painting can be
done well by virtually anyone.
Just
like with installing baseboards, successful painting starts with good prep.
Tape all aspects of the wall that you don’t want to get paint on, along with
any doorknobs and trim.
Use
rollers for big sections of the wall, and a brush for edges and fine work.
You can
opt to paint your room a neutral color. Or, you can add an accent wall on one
side to up your fashion game a bit.
Build an Address Sign
If you’re looking to dress up your front
yard a bit, try making an address sign. This simple woodworking
project is perfect for a quick afternoon project, and you can even
involve your kids if you want.
Take any piece of scrap wood that you have,
and stain it to a preferred color. Or, if you would rather, you can paint the
wood instead.
Pick up your preferred address letters at
your local home improvement store, and screw the letters into the back of the
wood.
Enjoy spending your weekend improving your
home!
