Apple Recipes for Family



My two sons love apples so much. Maybe because the very first food (besides milk) that I have introduced my two sons is apple. I used to make them apple puree everyday which they love so much.

 It is just yesterday when I thought of researching for Apple recipes which I can do in my kitchen just to give my kiddos favorite apple a twist. 



Here are the recipes I got which you can also try to prepare for your family!




 Apple Crisp

Ingredients:
all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup butter, melted

 

Directions:
 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).
    Place the sliced apples in a 9x13 inch pan. Mix the white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour and ground cinnamon together, and sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.
    Combine the oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.
    Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.

Sauteed Apples

Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
4 large tart apples - peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions:
    In a large skillet or saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; add apples. Cook, stirring constantly, until apples are almost tender, about 6 to 7 minutes.
    Dissolve cornstarch in water; add to skillet. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and serve warm.

 Apple Cake with Lemon Sauce

Ingredients:

4 medium apples peeled, cored and sliced
1 tablespoon freshly-squeezed lemon juice
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
1/4 cup water
1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
Lemon Sauce (see recipe below)


Preparation:

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter an 8-inch square cake pan.
Add sliced apples to prepared cake pan. In a small bowl, combine lemon juice, 1/2 cup sugar, and water; pour over apples and mix thoroughly. Let stand while preparing batter for cake. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining 3/4 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt; cut in vegetable shortening with a pastry blender until shortening is the size of very small peas. Make a hollow in the center of the flour mixture, and add egg and milk; mix until just combined (batter should have small lumps in it). Pour batter over apple mixture and bake for 45 minutes. Prepare Lemon Sauce. Serve with Lemon Sauce spooned over warm cake.Yields one (1) cake.
Lemon Sauce:

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
1/2 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
2 tablespoons freshly-squeezed lemon juice. 

In a small saucepan, mix sugar and cornstarch thoroughly. Stir in cold water until cornstarch is dissolved. Add boiling water and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened and clear in color. Remove from heat and stir in butter, lemon extract, and lemon juice; set aside until ready to serve.

  • Apples have 5 percent protein.
  •  A medium apple provides five grams of fibre more than most cereals!

This gonna be a new challenge for me, I will try to prepare any one of those this week. Yay this is gonna be my first time to try these kind of recipes *excited*.
